Courtesy and consideration are all part of the service at Merlx and they are a particular requirement whenever we carry out any work at Ann Watson’s Trust.

Established nearly 300 years ago, the Trust provides accommodation for ladies who are practising members of the Church of England, with priority being given to clergy widows and unmarried daughters of the clergy.

Ann Watson died in 1721 and left everything in place in her will to invest all her money in the service. The current property in Sutton, Hull, was built in 1860 and comprises 11 flats.

We respond quickly and efficiently to all of their electrical requirements, from replacing an outdoor light bulb to much bigger projects. We’ve carried out a full kitchen refurbishment for them, and more recently we conducted a full electrical inspection and upgraded the whole building. That involved fitting in with the daily routines of ladies whose ages range from the 60s to the 90s.

Karen Palmer, the Secretary of the Trust, said: “Merlx are very good. They are very accommodating, which is important because some of our residents are elderly. They are all retired ladies and one was in her 90s when the work was done. It is their home and the smallest disruption can become a big problem for them. Merlx were sensitive to their needs, turning up when they said they would and carrying out the work with great courtesy and consideration.”
